The MKS ToolLink™ Compact Communication Gateway connects RS232-based equipment directly to DeviceNet™ industrial networks, simplifying out-of-box configuration and run-time operation. Acting as a DeviceNet slave, the CDN466-5 is housed in a compact 2½ x 3¼ inch plastic enclosure with mounting tabs. It includes a 5-pin micro connector for the DeviceNet interface and a 9-pin D connector for the RS232 interface. The DeviceNet channel is fully isolated from the supplied power, and the gateway supports various peripheral devices such as barcode readers. Its internal buffer enables a Master node to exchange data seamlessly using standard DeviceNet messaging. The CDN466-5 features advanced capabilities including DeviceNet Change-of-State I/O Messaging, multiple receive modes (timeout, delimited, and length mode), and up to four user-defined delimiters. The device is powered by an isolated DC-DC converter and features loss-of-ground protection, delivering 5V at 500 mA without the need for an external power supply. Fully backward compatible with the previous MKS CDN066 gateways, it offers robust and flexible performance in demanding industrial environments.
