Masterflex

John Morris Group is an authorised Masterflex distributor for Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. We supply the full Masterflex range of peristaltic pumps, drives, pump heads, and precision-extruded tubing  used for cell culture media transfer, pharmaceutical filling, environmental sampling, and chemical dosing across laboratory and process-scale applications. Local stock of the most-ordered L/S, I/P, and B/T components is held in our Sydney warehouse, with ISO 9001 certified service and factory-trained engineers across Australia and New Zealand.

Masterflex pumps work by compressing flexible tubing between rollers and the pump head wall  fluid only contacts the tubing, never the pump itself. The architecture is fully modular: drives, pump heads, and tubing are independently selected, giving over 10,000 valid configurations across the L/S, I/P, and B/T product families. Masterflex is a Cole-Parmer brand owned by Antylia Scientific.

Masterflex applications in Australian and NZ laboratories

Masterflex pumps and tubing are specified across a wide range of laboratory, biotech, and process workflows. The most-ordered configurations through John Morris Group include:

  • Bioprocessing and cell culture. L/S digital drives with Easy-Load II pump heads for sterile media transfer, fraction collection, and bioreactor feed/harvest. PharMed BPT and platinum-cured silicone tubing for shear-sensitive cell lines.
  • Pharmaceutical filling and dosing. L/S digital drives with dispensing modes for vial filling, reagent dosing, and small-batch formulation. Calibration certificates traceable to NATA-accredited references.
  • Environmental sampling. Battery-operated portable drives for field water sampling, groundwater monitoring, and outdoor environmental work. Robust enough for Australian field conditions.
  • Industrial chemical dosing. I/P high-flow pumps and metering pumps for chemical dosing, water treatment, food and beverage processing, and pilot-plant operations. Flow rates up to 26,000 mL/min.
  • Microfluidics and precision dispensing. L/S precision drives with dispense-by-volume modes for low-flow, high-repeatability applications. Compatible with the full L/S tubing range from sizes 13 through 36.
  • Process integration and OEM. Masterflex drives with remote control, analog/digital interfaces, and integration into broader fluid and gas distribution systems for automated production lines, often paired with high-accuracy flowmeters for closed-loop verification.

Masterflex product families

L/S Pumps (low to medium flow)

The most-specified Masterflex range. Flow from 0.0006 to 3,400 mL/min, with both standard and Easy-Load II pump heads. Suitable for cell culture media transfer, fraction collection, and laboratory-scale dosing. Browse our peristaltic pump range.

I/P Pumps (high-flow industrial and process)

Higher flow rates from 0.4 to 26,000 mL/min for pilot plants, food and beverage processing, water treatment, and industrial chemical dosing. Suitable for continuous-duty applications across industrial process machinery environments.

B/T Pumps (bench-top high-volume)

Bench-top high-flow systems with flow rates between L/S and I/P, designed for intermediate-scale applications such as pharmaceutical compounding and laboratory-scale process work.

Masterflex tubing

Precision-extruded laboratory tubing in PharMed BPT, Tygon, platinum-cured silicone, Norprene, Viton, PFL, and Chem-Sure. Each material is tested for chemical compatibility and flow accuracy. Available in L/S sizes 13 through 82, I/P sizes, and high-pressure variants.

Pump heads and accessories

Standard, Easy-Load, Easy-Load II, Easy-Load 3, and high-pressure pump heads. Compatible across the L/S drive range. Plus accessories including remote controllers, foot pedals, and dispensing controllers.

Masterflex L/S tubing size guide

L/S tubing sizes are not sequential. They describe specific tubing IDs developed for different flow ranges. Selecting the correct size requires matching ID and flow rate to your application:

L/S Size ID (mm) Typical flow range (mL/min) Common applications
L/S 13 0.8 0.06 to 36 Microfluidics, low-flow dosing
L/S 14 1.6 0.21 to 130 Reagent dosing, low-flow lab
L/S 16 3.1 0.80 to 480 Cell culture media, general lab
L/S 17 6.4 2.80 to 1,700 Bench-scale process
L/S 18 7.9 3.80 to 2,300 Higher-flow lab and pilot
L/S 24 4.8 1.70 to 1,000 General lab, fraction collection
L/S 36 7.9 3.80 to 2,300 Process applications
L/S 73 9.5 5.40 to 3,400 High-flow lab and process

For applications requiring higher flow rates above 3,400 mL/min, our team can specify the appropriate I/P or B/T configuration.

Frequently asked questions

Are John Morris Group authorised Masterflex distributors?

Yes. We are an authorised Masterflex distributor for Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. Masterflex is a Cole-Parmer brand owned by Antylia Scientific. All Masterflex product supplied through John Morris Group is genuine, with full manufacturer warranty.

Do you stock Masterflex products in Australia?

Yes. Our Sydney warehouse holds local stock of the most-ordered L/S digital drives, Easy-Load II pump heads, and tubing in standard L/S sizes (13, 14, 16, 17, 18, 24, 36). Specialty drives, configured systems, and lower-volume tubing variants are sourced from the manufacturer on confirmed lead times, typically 2 to 6 weeks depending on the configuration.

How do I select the right Masterflex tubing for my application?

Tubing selection depends on chemical compatibility, temperature range, pressure rating, required tubing life, and flow rate. We provide compatibility charts and can advise on platinum-cured silicone, PharMed BPT, Tygon, Norprene, Viton, PFL, or Chem-Sure based on your fluid and operating conditions. Browse our laboratory tubing range or contact us with your fluid type, flow rate, temperature, and pump model and we will specify the correct tubing.

What is the difference between L/S, I/P, and B/T pump ranges?

L/S is the standard laboratory range, covering flow rates from 0.0006 to 3,400 mL/min, most commonly used for cell culture, reagent dosing, and lab-scale work. I/P is the industrial range, covering 0.4 to 26,000 mL/min for high-flow process applications. B/T sits between the two as a bench-top high-volume option for intermediate-scale work. We can help you select the right family at quoting stage.

Can Masterflex pumps be used for sterile or high-purity applications?

Yes. Because the fluid only contacts the tubing and never the pump itself, Masterflex pumps are ideal for sterile and high-purity applications. PharMed BPT tubing is specifically formulated for cell culture, and platinum-cured silicone is used for pharmaceutical filling. Tubing is replaced between batches to maintain sterility, and the pump itself does not require disassembly or cleaning.

Do you offer Masterflex pump calibration and service?

Yes. We provide flow-rate verification and calibration for Masterflex L/S, I/P, and B/T drives, performed onsite or at our Sydney facility depending on pump size and accessibility. Calibration certificates are traceable to NATA-accredited references. We also provide installation, preventative maintenance, and breakdown repair through our network of factory-trained engineers across Australia and New Zealand.

What is the warranty on Masterflex products purchased through JMG?

Most Masterflex digital drives carry a two-year manufacturer warranty. Pump heads and tubing carry product-specific warranties as defined by the manufacturer. Specific terms are confirmed on every quote.
