The GUNT Ion Exchange Trainer demonstrates desalination and softening of water using both cation and anion exchangers. Raw water is pumped from a storage tank into the cation exchanger. For softening, the treated water flows directly back to the collecting tank. For complete desalination, the softened water is further routed through the anion exchanger before being collected. Regeneration of the exchangers is carried out by feeding acid or caustic through the same pump system, and the spent chemicals are collected safely. The pump's flow rate is adjustable and displayed on a flow meter. A conductivity sensor placed before the collecting tank allows real-time evaluation of water quality, with readings shown on a conductivity meter. Sampling points are provided at all key locations. Tap water can be used as the raw water source.
