GUNT HM 450.03 - Propeller Type Turbine

The GUNT HM 450.03 - Propeller Type Turbine is a reaction turbine with axial through flow, similar to Kaplan turbines but with fixed blades. These turbines are ideal for low-head, high-flow applications, and are commonly used in run-of-the-river power plants. Turbine power is adjusted via the guide vanes to match operating conditions.

The HM 450.03 Propeller Type Turbine is an accessory for the HM 450C trainer. The experimental unit includes a rotor, a distributor with adjustable guide vanes, a wear-free and adjustable eddy current brake for loading the turbine, and a housing with a transparent pipe element. The transparent cover allows observation of the water flow, rotor, and guide vanes during operation. The angle of attack and flow cross-section are adapted to turbine speed and power by adjusting the guide vanes.

Product Features

  • Reaction turbine with axial flow suitable for low-head, high-flow applications
  • Fixed-blade rotor design with adjustable guide vanes
  • Transparent housing for clear observation of turbine operation
  • Force and speed sensors on the eddy current brake to measure mechanical power
