Description Digital Polarizing Microscope, 1.3 megapixels, 10x to 200x; USB
Can the polarizer be smoothly rotated through 180 degrees, or does it snap in place with a fixed angle of orientation?
Answer
I would not call the rotation "smooth." You cannot just twist the polarizing lens as the LED lights cannot move. It must be removed, but it can be placed on the unit at various degrees, 180 being a good example. There is a plastic spindle that helps line up the lens around the LED lights, it can be used as a reference for the angle/degree.Answered on 10/29/2010 by Jen from Technical Support
Can this be used to view geological specimens? Also, is it durable, so it can be used in school classrooms?
Answer
This item would be suitable for your application; durability may depend on the age of the students in the classroom.Answered on 1/18/2011 by Chris from Technical Support
I am trying to decide which type of Digital Microscope to purchase. Can you tell me how the polarizing feature works and why I might want that type?
Answer
The polarizing attachment only allows light from a certain wavelength to go through to the sensor - so if you have a shiny object this attachment help to reduce the glare.Answered on 11/2/2012 by Jen from Technical Support
Is the polarizer removable on this model?
Answer
The polarizer is removable, and the unit becomes the same as 48708-20 when it's removed.Answered on 5/13/2010 by Jen from Technical Support
What is the measuring feature and limitation.
Answer
The software will lay a ruler down on the captured picture, so you can then make an estimated guess at the length.Answered on 3/5/2010 by Jen from Technical Support
What is the warranty, guarantee on this product? What is the return policy if it does not fulfill our needs?
Answer
The warranty or guarantee covers any manufacturer defect, and we have a 30 day return policy. Please do not hesitate to call and speak to us regarding your application to see if this unit would fit your needs.Answered on 2/22/2010 by Jen from Technical Support
Would this be useful for microscopic analysis of sewage sludge aeration tank material ?
Answer
200x magnification (maximum) without bottom lighting would make it difficult to see microbes. I do not think this would be ideal for your application. A standard compound microscope, like part number48401-20, would be more appropriate.Answered on 2/15/2012 by Jen from Technical Support
